Protecting jobs and businesses in the Monmouth constituency

High streets are a vital pillar of our constituency’s economy; yet, sadly, countless family-run, independent businesses are facing increasing pressures like never before.

That is why a credible, effective blueprint is needed now to help those businesses.

The Welsh Government, along with their Plaid Cymru, are pushing ahead with plans to introduce a tourism tax in Wales.

Taxing the tourism industry is simply not the right thing to do as we rebuild from the pandemic and face ever-growing cost of living pressures.

We also need to slash the deeply uncompetitive business rate to allow Welsh businesses breathing room. Currently, Welsh businesses pay the highest level of business rates in the UK.

Ultimately, businesses need more investment, not more taxes.
