Peter Fox MS has called on Labour Senedd members to stand up to their Colleagues in Westminster ahead of next month’s rise in National Insurance.
In the last October Budget, the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves announced that the rate of employer’s National Insurance Contributions will increase from 13.8% to 15% from April 2025.
At the same time, the level at which employers will start paying National Insurance will reduce from £9100 to £5000 per year.
This means that, as of next month, businesses in Wales will pay an extra £917 per employee on average.
Commenting, Peter Fox said:
“Too many times we have seen Labour Ministers fail to stand up to their colleagues in Westminster.
“We have seen that when it comes to HS2 consequentials, winter fuel payments and the new inheritance tax on farmers.
“This Labour Government was far too happy to try and criticise every last decision that the pervious Westminster Government made but it is far too happy to stay quiet now that it is politically inconvenient for them
“The people of Wales simply cannot afford more of this silence.”
