As we approach the Easter weekend, it is a pleasure to see Monmouthshire bursting into life. From the Daffodils lining our rural lanes to the increased bustle in our high streets, there is a palpable sense of renewal across our beautiful constituency.

For many of us, Easter is a cornerstone of the year. For the Christian community, it is a profound period of reflection on the themes of sacrifice, redemption, and the ultimate triumph of hope. For others, it is a cherished opportunity to pause, enjoy the arrival of spring, and spend quality time with family and friends especially over the first Bank Holiday of the Year.

I am proud of the fact that, we have always been defined by our strong sense of community. Whether its through our local churches, our hardworking farmers, or the volunteers who keep our towns thriving, we understand the value of looking out for each other. This strong sense of community is what makes our patch of Wales so special.

Over the next few weeks, the political calendar is inevitably going to heat up. As we enter the election period there will inevitably be plenty of robust debate and differing opinions as to what the best way forward for Wales is.

This is what makes our democracy so special. The opportunity for us to gather and decide as a community how we want Wales’s future to look.

However, while we disagree on the future we must remember that we must not lose sight of our shared goal, looking out for what is best for the people of Wales. We must all remember to treat each other with respect, grace and dignity.

So, as you enjoy your chocolate eggs or walk through the stunning countryside, in what I hope will be glorious weather. Let’s carry this spirit of respect and grace going forward and I hope that this easter is a time of peace and restoration for you and your loved ones.
