Member of the Senedd for Monmouth, Peter Fox, has called on the First Minister of Wales to take a stance and to back Welsh Farmers.
In his question to the First Minister today, Mr Fox pointed to the lack of celebrations from the Prime Minister on his first year in office, and highlighted that since Labour took office, we have seen nothing but disastrous policies and U-turns.
Mr Fox asked if the First Minister would continue to put more distance between herself and her colleagues in Westminster, and actually listen to the farming community, by calling on the UK Labour Government to scrap the proposed Family Farm Tax.
Local MS for Monmouth, Peter Fox, has said:
“Our farmers in Wales are suffering, and continue to face bad news. From the new restrictions due to Blue Tongue, ongoing TB, to the devastating Family Farm Tax that Labour propose to bring in next year.
“I am a farmer myself, and a champion of our rural communities. I speak to farmers every week who tell me how devastating this tax will be for them and their future generations.
“The First Minister has been asked repeatedly about the Family Farm Tax, but she has not been able to answer a single direct question on it, she must. The Welsh Government must be champions for Farmers in Wales, and not just follow the party line at the other end of the M4.
“This is one U-turn that our rural communities are crying out for, and its long past time that the First Minister, and the Welsh Government, took a position and stood up for the rural communities.
“Only the Welsh Conservatives will be a strong voice for our farmers and Wales, and only we will Fix Wales."
