Member of the Senedd, Peter Fox, has written to the Royal Mail again to raise concerns about a post box that has once again been removed from a community.
The Sir Fynwy Torfaen MS was first contacted in the summer of 2025 by local residents, after a post box was removed from Wenallt Isaf near Gilwern, following an incident of purported vandalism.
Following input by Mr Fox and other representatives, a new box was installed and the vital amenity restored to the remote community near Gilwern.
Recent resurfacing works carried out in the area by SUSTRANS on the nearby cycle path have seen the box removed, allegedly by the contractors, and left on the verge without any apparent explanation.
Local residents informed Mr Fox they only became aware of the latest removal when the local postman came to collect the post, and found the post box had been uprooted and left.
Mr Fox has written again to the Royal Mail to ask when the box will be re-installed.
Local MS for Sir Fynwy Torfaen, Peter Fox, has said:
“Once again, this vital amenity has been removed from a remote, rural community, and residents are rightly up in arms.
“We do not yet know why the box was removed, but in any case, prior notice should have been given to residents, or, if it was un-planned, an explanation and timeline on when it would be reinstated.
“I have contacted the Royal Mail to make them aware of the latest issue with the post box, and to ask that it is reinstated as soon as possible.
“No part of my constituency deserves to be left behind, and I will do everything I can to ensure the post box is returned promptly to the area.”
