Member of the Senedd for Monmouth, Peter Fox, has ‘slammed’ the performance of Welsh Government.
During a debate in the Senedd on Tuesday, reflecting on the Achievements of the Welsh Government across their term, Mr Fox took the opportunity to remind them of their failings on health.
Mr Fox stated the Government’s narrative that as ‘the longest waits are falling, waiting lists are improving’ does not wash, nor does it stack up to scrutiny.
He highlighted the continual failure to meet cancer treatment targets, and the Government’s own failure to meet their aims to eliminate one- and two-year waits, shows the damage that 27 years of Labour has done to our health service.
The Monmouth MS closed his contribution by asking the First Minister if she accepted that despite claims of success, her government has repeatedly fallen short and has failed Wales too often.
Local MS for Monmouth, Peter Fox, has said:
“The Welsh Labour Government seem to have something of a selective memory when it comes to their achievements, as I cannot recall much for them to be proud of.
“We have the longest waiting lists in the United Kingdom, an education and health system that is under immense strain and a road network that is crumbling.
“Labour set a target to eliminate two-year waits by March 2023, another to eliminate one-year waits by the end of 2022, both missed, and as for their 62-day cancer treatment target, this has never been met.
“If this is their record after 27 years, it really is nothing to boast about.
“The next Welsh Government has a lot to sort out, but with the Welsh Conservatives at the helm, we will get it sorted, and we will get Wales Working.”
