Nearly One Year In: A Report Card the First Minister Won’t Like

Member of the Senedd for Monmouth, Peter Fox, has reviewed the performance of the First Minister, as we approach the one year anniversary of her tenure.

During a recent meeting of the Committee for the Scrutiny of the First Minister, the First Minister was asked by the Chairman, David Rees MS, ‘if you were marking yourself out of ten on progress as to your aims and your priorities, what mark would you give yourself.’

The First Minister responded by stating that she was not going to start giving marks to herself, and that she ‘thinks it’s for other people to do that.’

Mr Fox, also a member of the Committee, has answered the question for the First Minister, and recently published his response, highlighting the Welsh Labour Governments poor performance on NHS waiting times in Wales, the lowest education standards in the UK, and their consistent lack of support for Welsh farmers.

The Monmouth MS concluded by stating that he would not score the First Minister, or her Government, too much out of ten.

Local MS for Monmouth, Peter Fox, has said:

“It was an excellent question to be put forward to the First Minister, but another question that everyone will note that she could not answer.

“Lets be clear, the First Minister has been in post for nearly a year now, and her record speaks for itself.

“We have some of the worst NHS and education statistics in the UK, and a government in Wales that refuses to stand up for our farmers or residents.

“I am afraid I am not able to rate the First Minister, or her government very highly at all, and vast improvement is needed. They seem to be a Government running out of steam and out of direction.

“The Welsh Conservatives however do have a clear plan and direction, and if we are elected to form the next Welsh Government in 2026, we will Fix Wales.”
